Hi Bob,
Since my local fish store does not have a very good selection of live rock, I wonder what your thoughts are with buying it at on-line shops? If so, which one's do you recommend? I want good quality live rock, as I know it is very important to have if one wants a great reef tank.
I really think most of the time you get what you pay for and I want my tank to be the best it can be, so I will pay what it takes to get the best rock possible.
Thanks again for the help.

Hi Jeff,
As to my preference when it comes to live rock, I prefer branching rock, as less is required pound-wise, provides for better circulation in the aquarium as water flows through its open branched structure instead of bouncing off a brick wall-like structure, and also provides for better and/or more secure places to place corals. Also, it has far less holes for hitchhikers, e.g., worms and mantis shrimp! And about one pound per gallon will create nice structures where coral placement will be very secure.
Since I always prefer to support the local shop first before shopping the web, I would ask if they could special order what you're looking for. If not, then would search the web for those companies, such as advertise on my website for what they currently have in stock. And since this commodity comes and goes quite quickly, their stock usually dwindles quite rapidly. Look for a company that shows photos of their present supply and guarantees that's what they will ship.
Hope this helps, and let me know where you buy, what you buy, and how the service was so I can recommend them if suitable, to others.
Bob
